I apologize that I had to be cruel with my previous post with regards to this anime. Saying that the anime is bland and all, and that I couldn't establish a quite excellent connection with any of the character. Perhaps it's just my lack of sleep that had me speak all of that and watching the anime while at it made me not realize this fault of mine. Still, I won't retract my statement that the anime, at least to me, was not up to my expectation.
Nijimi Anazawa, also known as Nijimin the pop icon who was revealed almost half way in the anime also Magical Girl. But we already know about that.
Nijimin lived almost her entire life in tragedy. It's true that she became an idol and all, that she was having a great life with her stick but she was lonely.
Before becoming a Magical Girl, she was having the time of her life, having the perfect family and all until that one uneventful tragedy, her father took his life for having too much debt, her mother (though not directly revealed in the anime) had to sell her body to pay for the debt they owe.
It wasn't mentioned in the anime whether Nijimin exact her vengeance on the group her father was indebted to to commit suicide. After the incident using her newly acquired power, she made sure to carry all the burden herself. She wiped the memory of what happened to her father from her brother and mother and carried on with her dream. It was a very simple dream, actually, to give smile to everyone around her.
She did realized that when she became an idol upon joining the pop icon group, Puppy Play.
It was going great for her until another tragedy came to her life. Her friend, Mikado, her best friend, perhaps the only one she had until she met with the rest of the 'Rebel Girls,' was killed by Rina Shioi, then the 'Magical Hunter.'
Though it wasn't stated/shown in the film, my guess is that Nijimin cut ties with her family and lived on her own, and the only one she found solace in was her friend Mikado. She was in fact the one that persuade her to become an idol after all. Plus, it is Mikado's death that had Nijimin showed a dark side of her.
The thing that made me feel like wanting to write an analysis about Nijimin was when she met with our main protagonist Magical Girls, Bocchi and Nako... I mean, Ayapi and Tsuyuyu (Aya Asagiri and Tsuyuno Yatsumura). On the scene where the three met in the lobby of the hotel of the pop idol, it's the first time since then that she had friends, with being a Magical Girl and all.
She was both honest and kind. As she, Nijimin, treated the two Magical Girl with respect and without any malice. Until she showed her traumatized dark side, of which she harbors great blood lust towards the Magical Hunter, 'Rina Shioi.' At that time, the two Magical Girls were trying to keep Rina Shioi alive.
Later on, she quit being an idol, went and join with the two Magical Girls school as their classmate. They're her 'friends,' after all. All without knowing about the two Magical Girl's connection with the Magical Hunter she, Nijimin, was after.
Unfortunately, the three had a fallout when the current Magical Hunter, Sarina Shizukume, gave Nijimin information that the three Magical Girl, Bocchi, Nako and Aru, are connected... I mean Ayapi, Tsuyuyu and Rina Shioi.
She went to the hospital, Rina Shioi to exact her vengeance, unfortunately, she couldn't do it. Or rather, she can't do it. Her late friend's, Mikado's, power was protecting the one that Nijimin wanted killed.
The next time the three met, instead of using her powers to exact her vengeance she conversed with the two Magical Girls. She could've easily killed them, ordered them around like slaves, asked them questions that they cannot refuse to answer. But she didn't. Perhaps the brother maniacal brother of Aya Asagiri was the blame for not having any blood lust or killing intent with the two but there's no other reason for her not to use her power to order and interrogate the two. Perhaps though she felt betrayed, she still sees the two as her only friend?
The three then had agreement of Nijimin helping out with the cause of the 'Rebel Girls' on the condition that she will exact her vengeance against Rina Shioi. Fortunately, upon going back to class, a new transfer student was introduced, it was Rina Shioi, the one she wants to kill. Unfortunately, when Nijimin was about ready to kill Rina Shioi, the two Magical Girls, Ayapi and Tsuyuyu stopped her, to the point of stripping away her powers from her.
Talk about having the most awesome powers among all blessed souls and when the time has come when you needed it, when you really really needed it most. It vanished.
Powerless, Nijimin without any choice at all joined the 'Rebel Girls' a group which includes the two friends that betrayed her and stripped off of her powers and the one person she wanted dead.
This is her moment of weakness, her most unfortunate tragedy of all. She could just go back to being an pop idol but she stayed with them. She wanted her powers back, right? She wanted to exact her vengeance, right? But was that it? She's just a normal girl without her powers after all. She had no friend, her family perhaps not even an option at this point. She was lonely perhaps? She wanted to be with friends perhaps?
It was also at this moment when Nijimin was easily manipulated by Kaname Asagiri, the elder brother of Aya Asagiri. She was in love with him. In her mind, he was the only who would save her from all the unfortunate things that was currently happening in her life. It was unfortunate though, he was only using her.
Nijimin exposed the truth to Kaname Asagiri: of the magical girl sites, of the powers each of their team has and of the power that was stolen from her. Worst of all, she somehow told her how to use the powers of the Magical Girls forming the rebel group, including hers.
Her world completely turn upside down when Kaname Asagiri revealed the truth to her, that he was only using her, that to him she is nothing but just some silly garbage. Another betrayal to Nijimin. But what could she do? She was powerless and her revered powers she once had was being use against her. She couldn't exact her vengeance. She was powerless.
It was unfortunate though, that it was her very nature of bursting out in tantrums, of acting out without forethought, that led her to her death. She was killed Kaname Asagiri in the most anticlimactic scene. She running towards him and upon being startled, he sliced her.
After the many unfortunate events in her life, it was fortunate that she had only enough strength to muster to pull a quick throat stab against Kaname Asagiri. At the end of her life, she managed to save her friends.
The close of her curtains shows her on a stage waving her last goodbye to her many fans. Remarking that her actions had put smiles on the many faces around her. The anime scene made it sure to show that she died without regret, that she was happy. That her life, though riddled with many misfortune, lose her family, lose her friend betrayed by her friends, lose her power, betrayed by the one she loves... she stood on top of it all. She was smiling when she died. She was.. happy. Happy with the life she had.
Perhaps it seems among the Magical Girl, she was the most unfortunate but she made it sure she wasn't. A lot was taken away from her. I'd say that Ayupi and Tsuyuyu was more fortunate than her. But on her own, stood ground.

Before writing this, I wanted to have two character analysis for the Magical Girl Site, about Nijimi Anazawa as the goddess who became human and Kaname Asagiri as the human who became god. With Nijimin having the great power of her strip away from her, her divinity got stripped away. With Kaname Asagiri taking and abusing the power he just recently acquired, he is human who became a god. More like a comparative analysis between the two.
It's just unfortunate that most of what I've written here are just speculation and only based on the anime without consultation with the manga also without in depth study of what had happen. ALSO with only watching the anime once. I apologize for that.
Kaname Asagiri, is a bully, maniacal but strategic, and also a masochist. And has a deep resentment towards his sister, Aya Asagiri. It was never mentioned in the film why he does but only that she is the one relieving him of his stress, by being a punching bag every night or so. Outside though, he wears a facade of being a the perfect person there is, he even thought himself as god and that everyone around him are just scum, garbage, beneath him. Narcissistically self-centered?
On the other hand, if we hold our statements true, Nijimin Anazawa, is kind, honest, good-natured but unfortunate. Her actions were based on the tragedy that have happened in her life, on how she wanted to rise above it all and give smile to everyone around. She saw the opportunity of being a Magical Girl as a blessing to share to others. Perhaps it's her nature to be childish since she sees the good and the bright side of the cruel reality. It's unfortunate though that she is easily manipulated. The people may see her smile and happy all of the time, but then again, it seems this is just a facade to hide her sadness and loneliness.
She did betray the Rebel Girl's though but that's just her being manipulated. She is kind. She is lonely. She is honest. She is sad. A certain type to easily fall victim to abusers and manipulators. On her last breath she did saved all of them.
On Kaname Asagiri being the man who became god, it was centered towards himself. He didn't cared about anybody but himself. He'd trample on anyone or everyone at that if given a chance. As we've seen in the anime. I daresay, his life was all comic.. A resentful, narcissistic comedy. A farce.
As for Nijimin Anazawa, she should've lived longer. She should've been site administrator. But then again, she bore no negativity in her death bed. Therefore transcending tragic fate of the Magical Girls. She may have been the true bane for the site administrators given she was save and was not killed. An epitome of unfortunate tragic event. She was the real tragedy in the anime series.
I just wish Nijimin was also part of the main protagonist.

One last thing, I mentioned in my previous posts with regards to woman of having a certain characteristic of trying their best even though no body is asking them to and also they aren't need. It's also in my thought that Nijimin falls in this category. A certain character that tries her hard to help others. But what do I know..
(no, FBI please) -/_ -

While writing this post, it seems that the Firefly King shed tears for this character even so apathetic to the certain flow of the story and it's main protagonist.
I just wish Nijimin was saved. The one Magical Girl that it most unfortunate among all Magical Girls, live through all the tragedies and finishes it all with a smile.
