Poetry #52

"Please, hold
on to
these. A
little memento,"
he said.
"I'll come
back, I
promise you."

But that's
not what
I want
to hold
on to.

Just a
bit more
please, let
me hold
your hands.

Just a
bit more
please, stay
with me.

I couldn't
say any
words to
make his
mind change.

"I can't
stay here
forever," he
continued on.
"Don't worry,
I'll come
back. I'll
bring help.
I promise."

That is
not what
I want.
I want
you here.

And before
I knew
it, he
already left.

Was I
being selfish?
Of keeping
him here
with me?

Or was
he the
one at
fault for
leaving me

He did
promise me.
So here
I will
stay for
his return.
